Mission Control is the organization that plans and shapes Facebook’s evolving workforce. The Planning Team within Mission Control is responsible for workforce planning and resource allocations for the technical and product teams across Facebook. In this role, our planners help the business proactively drive their workforce strategies and anticipate and solve talent supply and demand challenges. Further, they manage the day-to-day operations of headcount management for all of Facebook tech.

This is a people manager opportunity for the Planning Team within Mission Control. The manager will lead a team consisting of operational specialists and program managers responsible for the day-to-day operations of headcount management including evaluating/approving change requests, operational reporting, and maintaining data integrity in our tools. This position will work closely with our Planning Program Managers to identify and prioritize how the team can provide the highest impact to the business. The position will also work with peer managers, the business, finance, recruiting and HR to continuously improve our processes. This manager will be accountable to strategize, plan, and execute initiatives as it aligns with the overall planning vision, balancing individual experiences with Facebook's company priorities.

Finally, this position will also act as a Workforce Planner for one or more Facebook tech pillars, acting as the single point of contact for headcount allocations and data/insights.
This position will be located in Menlo Park, CA.


  • Manage a global team of 5+ operational specialists and program managers

  • Define a vision, strategy and roadmap for all operational elements of the Mission Control planning organization

  • Build a high performing team which includes hiring, onboarding, mentoring, and developing operational specialists and program managers

  • Design and maintain a scalable organization in an ambiguous and fast paced environment

  • Influence the strategic vision and direction of Mission Control Planning and contribute to the overall vision, mission and strategy for Mission Control

  • Manage biannual review cycle for direct reports, focusing on strengths based development and role alignment for team members

  • Build strong partnerships and collaboration with peers, programs, tooling & analytics teams, and global business partners

  • Ability to understand, collaborate and influence across cross-functional organizations


  • BA or BS degree

  • 3+ years experience as a People Manager

  • 7+ years problem-solving, technical and/or program management experience

  • Communication experience and experience working with technical management teams presenting to executive audiences, sometimes on short notice

  • Knowledge of end-to-end workforce planning concepts including headcount planning and allocation management

  • Organizational and coordination experience along with multi-tasking experience

  • Analytical and problem-solving experience

  • Proven success in managing long term, complex programs at a global scale

  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously and working autonomously in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment


  • 3+ years of experience in a tech organization

  • 3+ years workforce planning experience including headcount planning and position management

  • Experience with finance and recruiting processes

  • Experience working with highly technical management teams

  • Experience with complex data/analytics models and tools (e.g., Tableau)

  • Experience influencing technical and non-technical partners
