Mission Control is the organization that plans and shapes Facebook’s evolving workforce. The Programs team within Mission Control supports the Engineering organization by building programs designed to technically and culturally onboard all technical hires to Facebook, as well as managing the team selection process to pair new hires to teams at the intersection of impact and passion.
This is a people manager opportunity for the Programs team within Mission Control. The manager will lead a team consisting of program managers who design, implement and evolve global programs for Facebook's technical organizations. This position will work closely with peer managers, as well as cross-functional teams and leaders in Engineering, Enterprise, Recruiting, and HR. This manager will be accountable to strategize, plan, and execute initiatives as it aligns with program visions, balancing individual experiences with Facebook's company priorities. This position will be located in Menlo Park, CA.

GROUP PROGRAM MANAGER, MISSION CONTROL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage a global team of 5-10 program managers

  • Build a high performing team which includes hiring, onboarding, mentoring, developing and coaching program managers

  • Design and maintain scalable organization in an ambiguous and fast paced environment

  • Influence the strategic vision and direction of programs

  • Develop roadmap to align with company priorities, identifying gaps, risks and communicating progress and shifts to leadership and partners

  • Manage biannual review cycle for direct reports, focusing on strengths based development and role alignment for team members

  • Build strong partnerships and collaboration with peers, tooling & analytics teams, and global business partners

  • Ability to understand, collaborate and influence across cross-functional organizations

  • Approximately 10-15% travel required

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • BA or BS degree

  • 5+ years experience as a People Manager and experience managing managers

  • 12+ years experience in program management in a rapidly changing environment

  • Analytical, problem-solving, organizational experience

  • Experience in development of a global team

  • Proven success in managing long term, complex programs at a global scale

  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously and working autonomously in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • MBA

  • 3+ years of experience in a tech organization

  • Understanding of large scale, strategic development programs, including technical content design, development, and implementation

  • Deep appreciation and experience to dig into data analysis for data driven decisions

  • Successful track record in building strategies and solutions to meet conflicting customer needs

  • Experience influencing technical and non-technical partners
