The Mission Control team is a group of people at Facebook responsible for workforce planning and resource allocations for the technical and product teams. Specifically, this candidate will lead demand planning and headcount management for one or more of our Product Groups and partner with our regional and site leads on regional workforce planning. Demand accuracy is imperative, and you will need to dig deeply with tech leaders, finance partners, & human resource partners to ensure that our demand-supply processes are set up for success. Ability to dive into analytics and tell a data driven story is key.

Workforce Planning Program Manager, Mission Control Responsibilities

  • Manage headcount allocations to accelerate tech growth. Primary focus is on balancing the supply & demand of headcount. This requires cross-functional collaboration with partners across Finance, Recruiting, HR and the Tech teams.

  • Facilitate change management and escalation process with Finance counterparts for requested changes to headcount targets. Work to minimize downstream impact and communicate appropriately. Partner with the recruiting team on shifting priorities for hiring.

  • Use data to collaborate with HR Business Partners and Tech Leaders to drive organizational design (org mix, location strategy).

  • Partner with Mission Control and Recruiting Analysts to develop in depth Excel and Tableau reporting, which is leveraged by all cross-functional partners. Leverage analytics to ensure data-driven decisions are being made.

  • Collaborate with Mission Control Programs team on shared initiatives for technical onboarding and training (like the team selection process).

  • Develop, execute, and manage yearly headcount planning cycle as well as end-to-end project plans and ensure on-time delivery.

  • Regularly meet with technical executives, managers, Finance, HR and Recruiting partners to present headcount updates. Ability not only to point out month-over-month changes but also explain “why” the changes occurred and how they affect the big picture.

  • Consult on best practices for workforce planning (location strategy, experience & talent mix of organization).

  • Focus on internal tooling adoption for technical orgs to provide more defined mobility and team selection opportunities. Understand tooling needs and partner with internal tools teams to design and later roll out features.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree

  • 3+ years experience managing complex, cross-functional programs

  • Experience with workforce planning and/or management including headcount planning and allocation management

  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment

  • Experience working with technology/engineering teams

  • Experience presenting to senior management

  • Advanced organization skills

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, experience interpreting forecasts

  • Communication skills

  • Intermediate Excel skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA or other business certifications

  • Experience with finance and recruiting processes

  • Experience with complex data/analytics models and tools (e.g., Tableau)

  • Advanced Excel skills
